Former Liverpool full-back John Arne Riise has slammed current Anfield stars Daniel Sturridge and Jose Enrique during a lively Twitter Q&A session.

The Norwegian defender was a fan's favourite during his seven-year spell with the Reds, where he won the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup, but wasn't afraid to get stuck into the current squad.

When asked how successful Daniel Sturridge will be under new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp , Riise said that the injury-hit striker "needs to step up his work rate", while his judgement on out-of-favour defender was even harsher.

"Hope not", was Riise's response when asked if there was any way back for the Spanish defender at Liverpool.

Riise also doesn't sound impressed by new signing Roberto Firmino who he believes "needs to show more" if he is to be a success at the club.It wasn't all doom and gloom for the current Reds squad though, as he dished out praise to James Milner and Albert Moreneo.

"Milner. 100% my type of player", was Riise's answer when asked who his favourite current Liverpool player, while he believes that Alberto Moreno "will be great".The Norwegian is currently playing for Delhi Dynamos in the India Premier League after he took in spells at Roma, Fulham and APOEL following his Anfield exit in 2008.

Away from Liverpool, Riise also took pops at Mesut Ozil, who is "not my type of player" as he wondered how Everton's Gareth Barry can "still be playing in the Premier League."
